It’s the middle of the semester and
my momentum for finishing with good grades is slim. But I am still going to
give it all I got, so far I have good grades. I am most worried about the test
coming up next week, I got the reading 96 test on the Tim O’Brien’s book and my
Chinese test unit 2. Chinese is a little difficult for me but with the time to
study is where I’m most effected I got have time that’s what everyone needs to
be able to relax and to have the time for school. My momentum is neutral, not
giving it all I got and for somethings I am. When it comes to last minute that’s
when I try and that must change. I need to focus and finish the work before the
due date so I can relax like I want to, but even than if I finish everything early
there’s always something else to do, I think I rather be eviscerated than to dill with all this pressure. When I need to
study I think it’s surreal because I
never study at all but I do my work and I get it done. But when I finish
everything for school I get a better momentum on trying harder everyday getting
things done it feels good like that heavy weight off my shoulders, this is due
than that’s due but I don’t have to worry about it because I finished. Also you
have to be confident and give that smug when
the day comes and you graduate and you can look back and say I gave it all I got.
So really, no matter what I got to start focusing and putting more effort on my
work. From here on till the end of the semester I think I can finish my classes
with an even better grade than I expect to receive.

Reflection
To do list Reflection
My previous
to do list consisted of three specific things to do. The three list were my
must do, should do, and could do. My first list I accomplished all three things
I had to do on my list. I studied for Chinese for my exam and made my cheat sheet
I made, I should have studied more and made more time. In my orientation/power
point I had enough time to practice and to finish I timed myself on finishing
it on a certain day, I did very well on it I got all the points for it. My homework
was finished right away and did not have any trouble finishing it. My second
list is my should do’s, I still need more time on trying to buy a car for
school. I also need time to go to the gym and run my mile that I always do and
to blow of some steam. To fix that I can always try to go in the morning really
early in the weekends, the plus side is no machine will be taken. The last part
of my list was my could do, I have not played soccer with my friends or my
family. I can always ask my friends when they want to go play soccer and ask
what days they usually go. I heard they go every week to a park in the Fullerton
area. I did accomplish playing league of legends on my own time when I finished
everything of course and I also had time to go out and have fun with my
girlfriend but that’s my should do list she makes me feel stress less and
happy. To adjust my list to accomplish more on my list.

Habits
of Mind
There are many types of
Habits of Mind lessons to know about, but there are three of them I am going to
tell you about. First one is to Apply past Knowledge to New Situations. This strategy
is for thoughts that think of a situation beforehand and improve the situation
further from happening and to a different situation. I think I have used this habit
of mind but a way I can use this is in school. I can study before a test and improve
my grade. Next, is Persisting this is seeing success through failure. Failing in
something is a good thing I believe it shows character if you look at failure
in a good way. I have used this before in a baseball game if you strike out
first time at bat there’s always the next time you come back up to bat and get
a hit. Then you’ve succeeded from failing the first time. Last of the Habits is
Striving for Accuracy. This Habit of Mind is not to be the best but to try and improve
on your own. My math skills aren’t very good and nether is my reading skill or
my writing. But I use this strategy at school not to be the best because I’m
not. But to improve in math, reading, and writing for myself is all that
matters. These are the three types of Habits of Mind that I used before and
will continue on using them to become a better person to succeed in the near
future.

Zeal Noun
"...others with pride or stiff soldierly discipline or good humor or macho Zeal." (pg.19)
The context clue that helped me was "synonym", "good humor" helped me understand what zeal means. Sentence: at the party a man had a great zeal in story telling.
Serenity Noun
"for a few seconds everything goes quiet and you look up and see the sun and a few puffy white clouds, and the immense serenity's flashes against your eyeballs..." (pg. 34)
The clue that helped me find the word is "Synonym", "everything goes quiet" helped me find the word serenity was to be calm and peaceful. Sentence: to find my serenity I play video games to do so.
Sneer Verb
"They sneered at sick call. They spoke bitterly about guys who had found release by shooting off their own toes or fingers." I used my "own logic" to help me figure out that sneer meant a rude facial expression. Sentence: I showed a sneer to my enemy on the court.

Things I’d Carry
There are many things that are important to me that I would
carry in my backpack. The things I must carry is cherished necessities. Most of
them is school supplies and homework and their important to me to be successful
in life and to carry on to finishing my education. But the most important
things are photos of my family and my girlfriend. Because both mean a lot to me
my family being there from the start and my girlfriend is also always there for
me whenever I need advice. Both will always push me to for what is the right
thing to do and I enjoy there company. My second important thing I must carry
is my sketch book. My sketch book keeps me calm whenever I choose to draw. What
I like about drawing is when someone complements my drawings and likes it, it
means to me that I am getting better at it and improving step by step. When I begin
to draw, I bloke out reality and I’m focused on every single line because once
you looked away from your paper you will forget what you wanted to draw and be
stuck. My third and final item that is important to me is to carry my future in
my backpack. My future is important to me because without any other important
thing in my back my future wouldn’t exist. All my things are important to me
that lead up to my future of success, everything is important to me so I can be
a better person and a student. We fight battles every day we just don’t know it
because there easy but when we do we try our best we can to succeed.

Profound Adj
"The guy's dead, he kept saying, which seemed profound, the guy's dead" (pg 12.) The type of context clue that helps me was "example", "The guy's dead" said repeatedly helped me understand the meaning of profound to be something deep involving feeling. Sentence: He felt grief when his grandma died.
Entrench Verb
"He used his entrenching tool like an ax, slashing, felling both love and hate..." (pg 16)
Example in the sentence like "slashing" and "love and hate" helped me to understand entrench to be a strength and firmness word. Sentence: She safely entrenched behind the realistic truth.
Resignation Noun
"Some carried themselves with a sort of wistful resignation, others with pride..." (pg 19)
Antonym in the sentence is "pride" it helped me conclude that the word resignation would have something to do with being weak, like giving up. Sentence: President Nixon resigned because of the fear of getting tried and going to jail.
